The 2018 Kids Learn to Fly Fish program enrollment is open to 8-13 year old girls and boys who have an interest in fly fishing and stream ecology. The course is co-sponsored by the Saint Vrain Anglers Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Laughing Grizzly Fly Shop. This is an outstanding program to involve youth and introduce basic concepts and techniques. The program includes fly tying, stream entomology, conservation and fishing.
All classroom / fly tying meetings will be held at the Lifebridge Christian Church, 10345 Ute Hwy, Longmont, CO 80504 in room# 207.

There is a limit of 12 participants. In past years, some kids have signed up only to miss the majority of the sessions because of conflicting activities. Because participation is limited, and applications always outstrip availability, if your child signs up, we expect him or her to attend every session, barring unforeseen circumstances, of course. A lot of work goes into preparation for the sessions, and a lot of volunteers make time to help; it's unfair to them and to the kids who were turned away. Contact Jim Hibberd (email) by February 16.
Adult or experienced kid volunteers are needed for each session. Volunteers for the three tying sessions need not be expert tyers; we tie very basic patterns. No special expertise is required for any other session; you only need to be interested in helping kids to learn our wonderful avocation. Contact Jim Hibberd via email .
